Connect Profile via External Link
If you work with clients or external partners, you don’t need their account credentials to connect social profiles in Statusbrew. Instead, you can generate a secure external link that allows them to authorize and connect profiles on their own, without sharing passwords or being invited to your workspace.
Admins and higher-level roles can create, edit, and manage these links. External users connect profiles without sharing passwords, and you stay in full control of what profiles/networks they can connect.
How External Links Work
An external link is a shared URL that allows someone outside your organization to connect/authenticate social profiles. You choose which networks they can connect, add their email address, and set an expiry date for the link (if required). Once they receive the invitation, they connect directly with the social network, and the connected profiles appear instantly in your Statusbrew Space.
Generate An External Link
Go to Settings → Profiles.
Click the Globe icon beside the Add Profile button.
Click on Create New Link.
Choose the networks you want the external user to connect.
Click Next.
Enter the email address of the external user.
Add an optional message (if required).
Set an expiry date if needed.
Click Send Invites. The external user will receive an email with a button to open the link and start the connection process.
What External Users See
External users receive an email containing your invitation. When they click View Link, they’re taken to a page showing the networks you’ve requested. They connect directly with each social platform. Once the authorization is complete, the connected profiles appear in your Profiles list immediately.
No credentials are shared with you at any point, and you never gain access to their login information.
Re-Authenticate Profiles Using an External Link
You can reuse an existing link when a profile needs re-authentication or generate a new one.
Go to Settings → Profiles
Click the Globe icon
Locate the link you want to reuse.
Hover over it and click the three dots (…)
Select Link Settings
Choose the network or specific profile that needs re-authentication
Confirm the recipient’s email address
Click Send Invites to resend the invitation The external user will receive a new email and can authenticate the profile again
Manage Existing External Links
You can control the visibility of a link from the Link Settings menu.
You can:
Rename the link
Edit recipients (add or remove email addresses)
Modify selected networks
Set or change an expiry date
Resend the invitation
Delete the link when it's no longer needed If the link expires, external users will no longer be able to access it unless you re-enable it.
Limitations and Requirements
External links can only be created and managed by Admin-level users or higher.
External users must have the correct permissions on the social network to authorize profiles—typically Admin-level or Owner access for Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, YouTube channels, or LinkedIn Pages.
Links remain active until they reach their expiry date or until you delete them.
FAQs
The external user isn’t receiving the email. What should I do?
Open the link settings, copy the link, and share it manually. Also, confirm that their email address is listed as a recipient.
Can external links expire?
Yes. You can set an optional expiry date in the link settings. Once expired, the link can no longer be used unless re-enabled.
Can I resend the invitation?
Yes. Use Link Settings → Send Invites to resend the email anytime.
Can external users add multiple profiles using the same link?
Yes, as long as the networks you selected support connecting multiple profiles.
Can I edit the networks or recipients on an existing link?
Yes. Both can be changed at any time from the link settings.
The external user sees an error from the social network. What causes this?
Common reasons could be:
They aren’t an admin of the account they’re trying to connect
Their social login expired
Pop-ups are blocked due to a browser extension they are using
They’re logged into the wrong social account
The wrong profile was connected. What should we do?
Remove the incorrect profile from Settings → Profiles, update the link if needed, and resend the invitation.
How do I revoke access completely?
Remove the recipient’s email, delete the link, and remove any profiles they previously added if required.
