Connect An Instagram Business Account

Connect your Instagram Business account to Statusbrew to publish content, reply to comments and DMs, and track performance from one place.

Before you connect, review the prerequisites for connecting an Instagram account to Statusbrew to ensure you have the required permissions and avoid connection errors. Make sure you're logged into the correct Instagram and Facebook accounts first.

Who Can Connect An Instagram Business Account?

Primary Owners, Owners, and Admins can connect a social profile to Statusbrew. If you don't have one of these roles, ask a teammate who does to connect the account for you.

Statusbrew only supports Instagram Business accounts. Personal profiles aren't supported. If yours is a personal profile, convert it first. See how to change your Instagram profile type.

How Do I Connect My Instagram Business Account To Statusbrew?

Start the same way for both methods:

Go to Settings
Select Profiles
Select Add profile
Select Instagram

You'll see two ways to connect: Login via Facebook and Login via Instagram. Pick one below.

Use Login via Facebook if you want every Instagram feature in Statusbrew. It's the recommended method.

This method unlocks all Instagram features in Statusbrew, including Instagram Hashtag Listening, Competitor Analysis, Product Tagging, and Collab Ads. Your Instagram Business account must be linked to a Facebook Page for this method to work.

Select Login via Facebook, and you'll be redirected to Facebook
If you aren't already logged in, enter your Facebook email and password, then select Log In
Review the permissions that Statusbrew will receive, then select Continue as [Your Facebook Profile Name]. This does not connect your personal Facebook profile to Statusbrew. It only authorizes access to the Pages linked to your account.
Check the box next to the Instagram Business account(s) you want to connect, then select Add.

Your Instagram Business account is now connected, and your team can start managing it through Statusbrew.

Use this method if your Instagram account isn't linked to Facebook. It converts your personal Instagram account to a Professional account, auto-creates a Facebook Page for your business, and connects that new Page to the account.

Select Login via Instagram, and you'll be redirected to Instagram
If you aren't already logged in, enter your Instagram email and password, then select Log In
If your account isn't a Business account yet, follow the on-screen prompts to convert it to a Business Profile
Review the permissions Statusbrew will receive and select Allow

Heads up: When you connect with Login via Instagram, these features won't work: Instagram Hashtag Listening, Competitor Analysis, Product Tagging, and Collab Ads.
To use them, switch the profile to Facebook login using the steps below.

If you connected with Login via Instagram and now want the full feature set, you can switch to Login via Facebook without removing the profile.

Go to Settings
Select Profiles
Click beside the Instagram profile
Select Switch to Facebook Login
Log in with a Facebook account that has Full Control access to the Facebook Page linked to the Instagram account.
Review the requested permissions and allow them to complete the switch.

After the switch, the profile's Network Type changes from Profile to Profile (FB). Your reporting data, Engage conversations, and scheduled posts stay intact.

The Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account doesn't need to be connected to Statusbrew separately.

If you get an error while switching, your Instagram account probably isn't linked to a Facebook Page in Meta. Link it to its Facebook Page, then try again.

How Do I Edit A Connected Instagram Business Account?

Go to Settings > Profiles
Click beside the profile you want to edit and select Edit

From here you can:

Change the Display name (used inside Statusbrew only) and add the profile to Profile groups
Set Permissions to control which team members can access this account's features in Statusbrew.
Click beside Additional options to Select color and add Watchers. Watchers get reminder notifications when the profile needs re-authentication or is missing permissions.

Select Update to save your changes.

How Do I Reauthenticate My Instagram Business Account?

What Happens After You Connect?

Once connected, you and your team can publish and schedule Instagram posts, reels, and stories, reply to comments and DMs in Engage, and track performance in Reports, all from Statusbrew.

Statusbrew never posts anything to your account except the content you publish through Statusbrew yourself.

Can I Connect a Personal Instagram Profile to Statusbrew?

No. Statusbrew only supports Instagram Business accounts. Convert your personal profile to a Business account first, then connect it. See how to change your Instagram profile type.

Do I Need A Facebook Page To Connect Instagram?

For the full feature set, yes. Login via Facebook requires your Instagram Business account to be linked to a Facebook Page. If you don't have one, Login via Instagram auto-creates a Facebook Page for you during the connection, but that method disables some features.

Why Are Some Features Missing After I Connected My Instagram Account?

You likely connected with Login via Instagram. That method doesn't support Instagram Hashtag Listening, Competitor Analysis, Product Tagging, or Collab Ads. Switch the profile to Facebook login to enable them. See the switch steps above.

No. When you switch from Instagram login to Facebook login, your reporting data, Engage conversations, and scheduled posts stay intact. Only the profile's Network Type changes, from Profile to Profile (FB).

Does Connecting Instagram Also Connect My Personal Facebook Profile?

No. Selecting Continue as [Your Name] during Facebook login only authorizes access to the Pages linked to your account. Your personal Facebook profile isn't connected to or managed by Statusbrew.

Can I Connect Multiple Instagram Business Accounts?

Yes. Select Add profile in Profiles and repeat the steps for each account. The number of profiles you can connect depends on your pricing plan.

I'm Getting An Error While Connecting. What Should I Do?

How To Connect An Instagram Business Account To Statusbrew?

You will get two methods to login:

Follow this method if you haven't configured your account with Facebook. This method will help you convert your Personal Instagram account to a Professional account, auto-create a Facebook Page that represents your business & connect your newly created Page to the account.

Select Login via Instagram. You'll now be redirected to Instagram.
You'll get a login window if you aren't logged in already. Enter your Instagram account credentials (email and password), then select Log In.
If your profile is not converted to a Business Account, follow the on-screen prompts and complete the steps for converting your Instagram account to a Business Profile.
Review the permissions Statusbrew will receive and select Allow.

Note: If you connect via “Login via Instagram” method, these features won't work: Instagram Hashtag Monitoring, Competitor Analysis, Product Tagging, Collab Ads, Post and Media Mentions won't sync in. To access these, please connect your account through the Login via Facebook method.

Switch An Existing Instagram Profile To Facebook Login

If your Instagram profile was connected using Login via Instagram, you can switch it to Login via Facebook without removing the profile from Statusbrew.

Before switching, make sure your Instagram account is connected to a Facebook Page at the Meta level. The matching Facebook Page does not need to be connected to Statusbrew already.

To switch the login method:

Go to Settings
Select Profiles
Open the menu beside the Instagram profile.
Select Switch to Facebook Login
Log in to the Facebook account that has Full Control access to the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
Review and allow all requested permissions
Select the relevant Instagram account and complete the connection

Once completed, your existing Instagram profile will use Login via Facebook, and supported Facebook-dependent Instagram features will become available.

Getting an error? Your Instagram account may not be connected to a Facebook Page. Connect the Instagram account to its respective Facebook Page at the Meta level, then try switching again.

Select Login via Facebook. You'll now be redirected to Facebook.
You'll get a login window if you aren't logged in already. Enter your Facebook account credentials (email and password), then select Log In.
Review the permissions that Statusbrew will receive, then select Continue as [Your Facebook Profile Name]. This does not connect your personal Facebook profile to Statusbrew — it only authorizes access to the Pages linked to your account.
Check the box next to the Instagram Business Account(s) you'd like to connect to and click on
Add.

Now your Instagram Business Account is connected, and you and your team can start managing it through Statusbrew.

If you want to connect multiple Instagram Business Account, click on Add Profile in the Profiles and repeat the same steps. Depending on your pricing plan, your profile limit will vary.

Editing Your Connected Instagram Business Account From Statusbrew

Go to Settings > Profiles. Click beside the profile you want to edit and select Edit from the drop-down menu.

You can change your Display name (will be used within Statusbrew only) and add it to Profile groups.

You can set Permissions to control which team members have access to specific Statusbrew features for this Instagram Business Account.

Click beside Additional options. You can Select color and add Watchers. Users selected as watchers will get reminder notifications for profile re-authentication or missing permissions.

Click on Update after making all the changes.

Reauthenticating Your Connected Instagram Business Account

Statusbrew connections to your social profiles rely on access tokens, which can expire over time. When this happens, you’ll need to reconnect your account. Refer to our support article to learn how to reauthenticate your profile.
