For Agencies: Working With Multiple Clients
Before you can start publishing and engaging on behalf of your clients, their social profiles need to be connected to your Statusbrew workspace. Depending on how your agency or business is structured, you can either connect these profiles yourself or allow your clients to connect them directly.
Each approach has its own considerations around permissions, access, and security. This guide will walk you through both methods so you can choose the right setup based on your needs.
Connecting Your Clients' Profiles
There are two ways to connect your clients’ social profiles in Statusbrew in order to start managing them:
You (the organization owner) can connect them, or
Your client can connect them if they are given Owners or Admin-level permission in your Statusbrew space. Below are some important considerations for this option.
Let’s discuss both options below so you can make the best choice.
Option 1: You (the organization owner) can connect all social profiles
You or any of your team members can connect all your clients’ social profiles to Statusbrew. For this, they would need:
Owner or Admin level permissions, and
Login credentials for each of the client’s social profiles that need to be connected.
Each social network is different, and the table below shares what is involved in obtaining admin access for each of the social networks Statusbrew integrates with.
Social Profile | Requirement |
---|---|
Facebook Page | Your personal Facebook profile should have the admin role on the Facebook Page you're looking to connect. Learn more Connect A Facebook Page |
Instagram Business Account | There are two ways to connect an Instagram Business Account to Statusbrew: 1. Login via Instagram: Client's login details (username and password). But if you use this method, the following features won't work: Instagram Hashtag Listening, Competitor analysis, Product Tagging, and Collab Ads. To access these, please connect your account through the Login via Facebook method. 2. Option 2: Your client connects each of their social profiles
Any users who have the Owner or Admin permission can connect social profiles to a Statusbrew workspace
But two important considerations should be kept in mind if you choose this option to connect your client’s profiles:
Owners or Admins can manage any social profile connected to your Statusbrew space, including removing or reauthenticating them.
Owners can access and have control over billing settings and subscriptions.
If other social profiles connected to your Statusbrew space are confidential (such as if you have connected several client profiles to one workspace and don’t want each to have access to one another’s profiles), you can create a different space for each client.
If you do not want your client to have access to your account's billing settings, you should give them Admin access. Unlike Owners—who can access all workspaces—Admin access is workspace-specific. When assigning an Admin role, you can choose which workspace(s) they’ll have access to.
If you add your client as Owner or Admin, they will also have full operational (for Publish, Engage, and Reports) control, in addition to access to social profiles. Oensr will have full operational control of your entire organization, and Admin will have full operational control of the specific workspace.
Hence, it’s recommended that your clients be granted admin access instead of owner access to connect profiles.
Giving Your Clients The Right Permissions
There are three main permissions available on your Statusbrew plan:
Owner
Admin
Regular User
Let’s discuss when using each might be most advantageous. For a broader explanation of all of these permissions, see this article.
Owner
The person who has access to the email address and password that the billing is under is the organization owner. There isn’t a way to designate a second owner, but we can transfer ownership to another Buffer user if needed.
The organization owner will always have Full Posting access on all channels, and this cannot be changed. You can read more about Full Posting access below.
Admin
This permission affects access to the entire Statusbrew space they are onboarded to. You’ll give admin permission to anyone on your team who you’d like to have a full range of access, including connecting and removing social profiles, creating reports, replying and managing all conversations in Engage, configuring automations, tag structures, and posting to all social profiles connected to the Statusbrew space.
Regular User
Regular Users will have access only to the specific social profiles you assign to them. They won't be able to add social profiles or re-authenticate them. You can also choose to provide them with access to a specific social profile. For instance,
Full Publishing: This permission affects access to individual social profiles. Many agencies provide their clients with full publishing access to one or more of their social profiles. This allows them to create posts, manage content calendars, and approve posts for all connected profiles of that space. You can also provide full publishing access to your team members to create and publish posts for your clients.
Create Post (Needs Approval): This permission affects access to individual social profiles. If you don’t want clients or team members to publish posts directly and prefer to review content before it’s scheduled or published, assigning them Create Post (Needs Approval) access for a particular profile is the best approach. This ensures they can create content, but it won’t go live until it’s reviewed and approved. If your team members have Create Post (Needs Approval) access on a client’s social profile, all posts they create for that social profile will need to be approved by the client. It is not possible to choose which posts require approval.
