Shorten URL In Schedule Posts
Adding links to your social posts is a great way to drive traffic to your blog, website, or landing page. Within Statusbrew, you can shorten links for a cleaner appearance and add tracking parameters to measure the traffic they generate.
Tip: Adding tracking parameters to a link makes it longer, so we recommend also shortening it and Link shortening is available on all Statusbrew plans.
Statusbrew gives you two ways to shorten links: sbrew.link, our own built-in shortener, and Bitly, for your own branded domains.
What Are My Link Shortening Options?
sbrew.link: Statusbrew's built-in shortener. Nothing to set up, just pick it in the Link shortener dropdown when you add a link.
Bitly: Shorten with your own branded custom domain, like go.yourbrand.com. This needs you to connect your Bitly account first.

FAQs
Do I Need A Bitly Account To Shorten Links?
No. Statusbrew's built-in sbrew.link shortener works with no setup, just pick it under Link shortener. You only need Bitly if you want to shorten with your own branded custom domain.
What is sbrew.link?
sbrew.link is Statusbrew's built-in link shortener, available in Compose. It needs no account or connection. Select it under Link shortener when you add a link, and your link is shortened with an sbrew.link short URL.
Can I Switch Between sbrew.link And Bitly?
Yes. Each time you add a link in Compose, the Link shortener dropdown lets you pick sbrew.link or any connected Bitly domain for that post.
Are My Links Shortened Automatically?
No shortener is applied by default. Each time you add a link, open the Link shortener dropdown in Compose and pick sbrew.link or a Bitly domain for that post.
Why Don't I See The Option To Shorten My Link?
The Link shortener option only appears once your post contains a link. Add your link to the caption or the first comment, and the option will show up.
Can I Shorten More Than One Link In A Post?
Yes. Each link gets its own short link. Any UTM parameters you've set apply to every link in the post.
Where Do I See The Shortened Link?
In the post preview on the right, as soon as you pick a shortener. Whether you use sbrew.link or Bitly, the working short link is generated once the post is drafted or scheduled.
Why Does The Shortened Link In Compose Preview Open Statusbrew Instead Of My Website?
The link shown in Compose preview is only a preview before the post is drafted, scheduled, or published.
If you click it while creating the post, it may open Statusbrew or Bitly instead of the actual original URL.
Once the post is drafted, scheduled, or published, the shortened link will redirect to the original website.
Why Doesn’t My Branded Short Link Appear On LinkedIn?
LinkedIn may convert links to its own shortened format after publishing. So even if you select a Bitly-branded domain in Statusbrew, LinkedIn can still show its own shortened version.
This is controlled by LinkedIn and cannot be changed from Statusbrew.
Why Aren’t My Links Shortened Even Though Bitly Is Selected?
If you’re using a free Bitly account, you may have reached Bitly’s monthly shortening limit. When that happens, your post can still be published, but the link may go out as the full URL instead of the Bitly short link.
You can check your Bitly account limits or switch to Statusbrew’s default shortener.
Can I Shorten Links Added To The First Comment?
Yes. Statusbrew can shorten links added in the caption and the first comment.
When you add a link in the first comment, the link shortener option will appear in Compose, and you can select the shortener you want to use.
Why Is The Media Upload Option Hidden After I Add A Link?
When you add a link to the caption, Statusbrew may show the link preview card. At a time, either the uploaded media option or the link preview can be shown.
To upload media instead, remove the link preview from Compose. The URL will still remain in your post text.
Can I Shorten Links While Bulk Scheduling Posts?
Yes. While uploading posts through Bulk Schedule, enable the Shorten Links option and select the shortener domain you want to use.
Statusbrew will shorten the URLs included in your post content during bulk scheduling.
Do I Need Bitly To Shorten Links In Statusbrew?
No. You don’t need Bitly to shorten links in Statusbrew.
Statusbrew provides its own default shortener, sbrew.link. Bitly is only needed if you want to use your Bitly account or a branded Bitly domain.
Can I Choose Between Statusbrew Short Links And Bitly Short Links?
Yes. If Bitly is connected to your Statusbrew workspace, you can choose between Statusbrew’s default shortener and Bitly while creating a post.
If Bitly is not connected, Statusbrew’s default shortener will be available.
Where Will The Shortened Link Appear After I Schedule Or Publish The Post?
The shortened link will appear in the post content after the post is drafted, scheduled, or published.
In Compose preview, the link may still behave like a temporary preview. The final working short link is created once the post is saved as a draft, scheduled, or published.
Why Are My UTM Tracking Results Not Showing In Reports?
To connect link performance with Statusbrew Reports or Google Analytics widgets, add UTM parameters through Statusbrew Compose before shortening the link.
Links created with external UTM builders will still work, but Statusbrew may not be able to connect that performance data inside Reports.
