Link Shortening And Tracking

Add tracking parameters, set up presets, and shorten your links by connecting your Bitly account

Bitly Integration

Connect your Bitly account to shorten the links in your posts, right inside the Compose window. You can shorten with standard bit.ly links, or use your own branded short domain so your links carry your brand name. Connect Bitly once, add any custom domains you want, then pick your Bitly link when you add a link to a post.

Don't have a Bitly account? Statusbrew includes its own built-in shortener, sbrew.link, that you can use straight away without connecting anything.

Who Can Use This?

Any Statusbrew user can set up the Bitly integration at the space level. Regular Users can add and remove Bitly accounts and domains, just like Admins and Owners.

The Bitly integration is available on all Statusbrew plans.

How To Connect Bitly To Statusbrew?

  • Go to SettingsIntegrations

  • Click Manage beside Bitly

  • Click Manage Bitly accountsAdd Bitly account

  • Log in to Bitly and authorize Statusbrew on the page that opens.

After your account connects, Statusbrew prompts you to add a short domain right away.

How To Add A Short Domain?

Adding a Bitly account automatically triggers the add-domain step. You can also reach it manually:

  • Go to SettingsIntegrations

  • Click Manage beside Bitly

  • Click Add Bitly short domain

  • Select the Bitly User Account and the Shortening Domain you want to use.

  • Click Add

Repeat this to set up multiple domains across different Bitly accounts.

How To Add Another Bitly Account?

You can connect more than one Bitly account:

  • Go to SettingsIntegrations

  • Click Manage beside Bitly

  • Click Manage Bitly accountsAdd Bitly account. You will be taken to the Bitly login screen.

  • Authorize Statusbrew on the page that opens.

You can also add an account on the fly from the Link shortener section while creating a post in Compose.

  • Go to Compose and start a post.

  • Add your link to the caption or the first comment. The Link shortener option appears once the post has a link.

  • Under Link shortener, choose your connected Bitly domain.

The link in the preview on the right is a preview only, not the live short link. Your real Bitly short link is generated once the post is drafted or scheduled.

Asset Manager saves full links, not shortened ones. When you build a post from a text asset, apply the shortener or a link preset in Compose.

FAQs

Can I Use My Own Branded Domain Instead Of A bit.ly Link?

Yes. Connect your Bitly account, add your custom short domain, then select that domain under Link shortener in Compose. Your links will use your brand's domain instead of the generic bit.ly one. Branded custom domains require a paid plan on Bitly's side.

Do I Have To Use Bitly, Or Does Statusbrew Have Its Own Shortener?

You don't need Bitly. Statusbrew has its own built-in shortener, sbrew.link, available under Link shortener in Compose. Connect Bitly only when you want to shorten with your own branded custom domain.

The short link in the Compose preview is only a preview. The real Bitly short link is generated once you draft or schedule the post, so the working short link is the one on your published or scheduled content, not the one shown as you type.

Yes. Each link in the post gets its own separate short link. If you have a default UTM preset or campaign parameters applied, the same parameters are added to every link in that post.

Can I Connect More Than One Bitly Account?

Yes. Go to SettingsIntegrationsManage beside BitlyManage Bitly accounts, and add as many accounts as you need. You can also set up multiple short domains across different accounts, which helps when you manage several brands or clients.

LinkedIn converts the links in your posts to its own shortener, so your branded Bitly domain may not appear on LinkedIn even when you selected it. This is LinkedIn's behavior, not a Statusbrew limitation.

Why Don't I See The Option To Shorten My Link?

The Link shortener option only appears once your post has a link in it. Add your link to the caption or the first comment first, and the option shows up. If there's no link in the post yet, there's nothing to shorten, so the option stays hidden.

Free Bitly accounts have a monthly cap on the number of links you can shorten. Once you reach that cap, new links stop getting shortened even though Bitly still shows as selected under Link shortener in Compose, and the post goes out with the full link. We recommend a paid Bitly plan to raise the limit and keep your links shortening.

No. Link shortening is available only in Compose. It isn't offered when you reply to conversations in Engage.

Why Am I Getting An Internal Error While Connecting Bitly?

This usually comes from a stuck Bitly login session in your browser. Connect to Bitly again in an incognito or private window to clear the old session. If the error continues, reach the Statusbrew support team by typing "human please" or "talk to agent" in chat.
