Why SOC 2?

SOC 2 (Service Organization Controls 2) is considered the gold standard for data security and privacy. Managed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), this stringent framework mandates high standards for how organizations must safeguard their customers' information.

Considering the pace at which we are growing, we recognized that this compliance would get you more comfortable and at peace knowing that Statusbrew is always security first.

By undergoing a SOC 2 audit, we tested our policies, procedures, and controls rigorously. An independent auditor conducted a thorough review and confirmed that our security measures are not only well-constructed but also effectively operational.

As the ultimate standard for security and trust, SOC 2 certification allows us to provide a compliant, secure solution for all Statusbrew users.

Our SOC 2 journey

Achieving SOC 2 compliance is a significant undertaking.

We partnered with Vanta to facilitate our journey. Their platform integrated smoothly with our systems, offering guidance on implementing the necessary policies and procedures before the audit.

Then, Advantage Partners assessed our audit readiness and initiated our Type II audit (6 months).

Their team evaluated our controls and offered insightful feedback. After the audit period concluded, they presented our report.

While having the right partners made a significant difference, it still required dedication and focus from our team.

Fortunately, many of the requirements aligned well with our existing practices, and we had already implemented several security best practices, which helped streamline the process.

Throughout this journey, we collaborated closely with our auditor to establish a clear timeline, set a target audit date, and worked backward to ensure we were prepared.

Now that our controls are in place and security is more deeply ingrained in our culture, future SOC 2 audits will be even smoother.

Looking Ahead

Running the company, building the software, updating policies, frameworks, and all at the same time for a young (and lean) company needs a lot of resources and dedicated time.

We wanted to make sure we setup a strong foundation internally that helps Statusbrew scale and innovate at a faster pace.
